Specialist Home Care for More Complex Medical Needs

Specialist Home Care for More

Complex care is specialist home care for individuals with serious or long-term medical conditions who need ongoing clinical support alongside daily care at home. For example, someone living with Motor Neurone Disease may need help with mobility, feeding support, and medication throughout the day, while someone recovering from a spinal injury may require catheter care, repositioning, and rehabilitation support at home.

HTR Care has been providing complex care across Greater London and surrounding areas since 2017 from Belmont House, Uxbridge (UB8 1HE). All complex care arrangements are overseen by our Registered Manager, Rajen Jussun, a qualified Registered Nurse with more than 30 years of experience across NHS hospitals, rehabilitation settings, and private care services. HTR Care is regulated by the Care Quality Commission and rated Good across all five inspection domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led. Complex care can often begin within 24 hours, or sooner in urgent situations.

What is Complex Care?

Complex care is a type of specialist home care for individuals living with serious, progressive, or long-term health conditions that require more support than standard home care can provide.

Alongside personal care and daily assistance, complex care also includes clinical support delivered by specially trained carers. This may involve tracheostomy care, PEG feeding, seizure management, ventilator support, catheter care, medication administration, respiratory support, and specialist mobility assistance.

For example, someone living with Multiple Sclerosis may need support with transfers, medication, and fatigue management throughout the day, while someone recovering from a brain injury may need structured routines, rehabilitation support, and close monitoring at home.

More families across the UK are choosing home-based care because it allows loved ones to remain in familiar surroundings while receiving personalised one-to-one support.

2x2035

Adults aged 85+ requiring 24-hour care are expected to nearly double by 2035, increasing demand for specialist home-based care.

Frequently Asked Questions About After-Hospital Care

Complex care at home is specialised support for people with serious or long-term health conditions. It includes medical and personal care provided by trained carers so the person can live safely at home instead of staying in hospital.
According to UK averages, complex care at home usually costs £25 to £60 per hour, depending on the level of medical support required. HTR Care provides personalised pricing based on each person’s clinical needs. After a free assessment, a clear quote is shared. In some cases, costs may be covered through NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding.
Standard domiciliary care helps with daily tasks such as washing, dressing, meal preparation, medication reminders, and companionship. Complex care includes this support but also involves clinical procedures delivered by specially trained carers. This may include PEG feeding, catheter care, tracheostomy care, ventilator support, seizure management, and wound care.
Complex care is suitable for people who have serious or long-term medical needs that require specialist support. This may include neurological conditions such as motor neurone disease (MND), multiple sclerosis (MS), acquired brain injury, spinal cord injuries, epilepsy, or people who require ventilator or feeding tube support.
Yes. Some people qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC), which may fully cover the cost of complex care. Eligibility is based on medical needs and is assessed by the local Integrated Care Board. Fast Track funding may be available for urgent situations.
Trained complex care carers can support with procedures such as PEG feeding, catheter care, tracheostomy care, ventilator support, wound care, medication administration, respiratory support, and seizure management. All procedures are carried out by carers with appropriate training.
Complex care may be short-term or long-term, depending on the condition. Some people need support for a few weeks after hospital discharge, while others with ongoing medical conditions may require long-term or lifelong care.
Complex care at home allows a person to receive specialist support in their own home with a personalised care plan. Nursing home care is provided in a residential setting where staff support multiple residents. Many families prefer home care because it offers more comfort, independence, and one-to-one attention.
