Live-in Care That Keeps You Safe, Independent, and At Home

Live-in Care That Keeps You

Live-in care is a gentle alternative to moving into a care home - designed for people who need regular assistance but wish to remain in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. Live-in care is suitable for older adults, people living with dementia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke recovery, long-term health conditions, and complex care needs. It also supports individuals who are becoming more dependent but prefer to remain at home instead of moving into residential care.

HTR Care has been delivering live-in care since 2017 from Belmont House, Uxbridge (UB8 1HE). Rated 9.7/10 and trusted by 500+ families across London, HTR care is regulated by the Care Quality Commission and rated Good across all five inspection domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led. Every live-in carer is trained in Health and Social Care (Level 2 or Level 3), fully DBS-checked, and shadow-trained before working independently. Before care begins, we carry out a free home assessment, create a personalised care plan, and introduce the carer in advance to ensure comfort and familiarity. Live-in care can begin within 24 hours, or sooner in urgent cases.

What Is Live in Care?

Live-in care is an alternative to residential care homes where a trained caregiver lives in the home and provides ongoing daily support. It allows people to remain in familiar surroundings while receiving help with personal care, medication, meals, mobility, and household tasks.

It is commonly arranged for older adults, people with disabilities, or those living with progressive conditions who require consistent support but do not wish to leave their home environment in London or elsewhere in the UK.

Live-in care in England is regulated by the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. Providers must meet strict standards relating to safety, training, safeguarding, and quality of care delivery.

HTR Care is fully CQC-registered and independently inspected. With an ageing population and increasing preference for home-based care, live-in care continues to be one of the most trusted long-term care options.

Frequently Asked Questions About Live-in Care

Live-in care is a home care service where a trained caregiver lives with you in your own home and provides daily support. It covers personal care, medication management, meal preparation, housekeeping, companionship, and specialist support for conditions such as dementia and Parkinson's disease. The process begins with a free home assessment, followed by a written care plan, carer matching, and a carer introduction before care starts.
For many families, live-in care is a more suitable option than a residential care home. It allows the person to remain in their own home with familiar surroundings, belongings, and routines, with care personal to one individual rather than shared across many residents. For people with dementia, staying in a familiar environment is clinically beneficial. Live-in care is also often more cost-effective for couples, as one carer can support two people in the same household.
The typical cost of live-in care in the UK ranges from £1,000 to £1,600 per week, depending on the level of care required and the location. In London and the South East, rates are typically at the higher end of this range. Specialist care for dementia, Parkinson's disease, or palliative needs is typically priced at £1,300 to £1,800 per week. HTR Care provides a personalised quote following a free home assessment.
Yes, in some cases. If the client's primary care need is a health need rather than a social care need, they may qualify for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding, which fully covers the cost of live-in care for eligible individuals. A formal multidisciplinary assessment is required to determine eligibility. Other funding options include Attendance Allowance, Personal Independence Payment, local authority funding, and Direct Payments.
A live-in carer lives in the home and is available throughout the day and night but has agreed rest periods, typically 2 hours during the day, and is not expected to provide active care for all 24 hours. 24-hour care involves multiple carers working in shifts to provide continuous active support at all times. Live-in care suits most clients needing regular daily support, while 24-hour care is for clients with very high-dependency needs requiring constant attention through the night.
Yes. A live-in carer requires a private room in the home, comfortable with access to Wi-Fi, along with access to kitchen and bathroom facilities. Before care begins, our team carries out a home assessment that includes checking the suitability of the accommodation. If you are unsure whether your home is suitable, our team can advise during the initial consultation at no cost.
HTR Care provides live-in care for people living with dementia and Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, Motor Neurone Disease, learning disabilities, spinal injuries, and palliative and end-of-life needs. Live-in care is also arranged for elderly care, disability care, post-operative recovery, and rehabilitation at home. Each arrangement is personalised to the individual's specific conditions and daily requirements.
Yes. HTR Care is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission and rated Good across all 5 CQC inspection domains: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led. All live-in carers are DBS-checked, trained to Level 2 or Level 3 in Health and Social Care, and supervised by Registered Manager Rajen Jussun, who has over 30 years of experience in health and social care.
